Scarlett Johansson is moving away from her superhero roots in the Marvel universe and venturing into the whimsical realm of Wes Anderson.
The latest project from the filmmaker has recently enlisted the well-known Black Widow actress as part of its cast. The movie is presently being shot in Spain and has already garnered an impressive roster of Anderson’s regulars, including Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, and Tilda Swinton, along with notable new additions like Margot Robbie, Tom Hanks, and Rupert Friend. While specifics about the story remain under wraps, it’s confirmed that Anderson both wrote and directed this film, and the character played by Johansson remains a mystery.
Anderson is wrapping up his latest project in September, which coincides with the release of his upcoming movie, The French Dispatch, in October under the Searchlight banner. Johansson is making her on-camera debut for Anderson with this project, but they have previously worked together on Isle of Dogs, where she lent her voice to the animated film in 2018.
A famous personality, recognized for her remarkable performances in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit that earned her two Academy Award nominations last year, has recently appeared in the lead role of the superhero movie Black Widow. But, this has resulted in a disagreement with Disney as it is believed that her agreement was breached when the film was launched on Disney+ at the same time as in theatres.
